Have you been able to effectively reduce downtime?
Your machines could be down because:
→ The setup person is attending to another machine
→ The machine is awaiting a quality control inspection
→ The operator is gathering components or loading and unloading parts
Although these are valid reasons for downtime, it is essential to identify the percentage of CNC machines actually functioning in each cycle. This, in turn, allows you to determine the percentage of machines in downtime - and therefore the gaps in your operations.
One way to bridge these gaps is to opt for systems which allow the machining of multiple components at once, reducing the number of times an operator needs to load and unload parts, and input information into the machine.
By doing this you create more time for operators and allow more machines to function, in each cycle.
This can significantly reduce downtime, thereby improving the productivity of your CNC Machines.
